Just what in the hell is Jake's Saloon? Is at a Neighbor dive bar? A Sports bar? A College bar? Jake's Saloon must have multiple personality disorder (DID) because it's all of those! Cheap, strong drinks? You got it. Seedy yet comfortable atmosphere? Yep. Lots of TVs for sports? Oh yeah. Pool, darts, pinball, and vids? You bet. Damn good late night pizza? Yes. Eclectic crowd? And then some. Jake's is located on near the southeast corner of UT's main campus. You can balk at the neighborhood, but it's fine by me. Not sure if I'd walk home while being TOO drunk, though. Service was fine. I'd say it was good, actually. The friendly barmaid was initially delayed as she in the midst of making shots for the 6 or 7 broskis sitting at a table. But she greeted me immediately, and when she was done serving the shots, she took my order without delay. I got my beer and pizza most rikki tik. Jake's is getting five stars from me cuz, uh, I like it. Don't skip the pizza; it's from Homeslice.
Nice People behind the bar and at the bar. Good food, cheap drinks- all good. I've been there several times and it's always a pleasant experience.
What a great bar. The outside looks dicey, but it's a core dive bar with some updates made on the inside. They have a good menu and even have pinball machines. Great spot to watch the game and have a few bites to eat. Fast and nice service.
